CSI-219 Crow Language Literacy Picture Book Series – Teaching Methods
Roanne Hill, master Crow language teacher at St. Labre Indian Catholic High School, will guide
participants in incorporating this series of picture books into the K-12 Crow Language
Curriculum. Workshop participants will develop lesson plans with learning activities that expand
across different grade levels and academic disciplines. Participants will also develop assessment
tools (via the eLearning Platform) to measure student acquisition of Apsáalooke language and
content learning from book series.

CSI-125-1 Crow Language Science/Textbooks in the Classroom
Roanne Hill, master Crow language teacher at St. Labre Indian Catholic High School, will guide
participants in creating classroom lesson plans and demonstrating methods for teaching the
Science and Natural World picture book series, and the Crow Level 2 textbook. Participants will
also demonstrate the audio components, assessment tools, and games from the newly revised
Bíiluukaalilaah! Speak Crow! Level 2 textbook that includes vocabulary and conversation
acquisition. A strong emphasis will be placed onthe practice of reading and writing the Crow
language and incorporating the Crow Dictionary into lesson plans.

ED-239-1 Teacher Pedagogy/Mentoring
Under the leadership of Sharon Peregoy, Little Big Horn College Crow Language Instructor,
student teachers will be matched with veteran teachers for a culturally thematic and linguistically
innovative approach to teaching Crow Language topics for grades K-8. Participants will have the
opportunity to study and practice the integration of Crow language, culture, and history into the
curriculum with a master teacher and also demonstrate culturally and linguistically different
methods. Participants will be introduced to the newly revised Bíiluukaalilaah! Speak Crow!
Level 2 textbook and its audio components, assessment tools, and games. A strong emphasis will
be placed on the practice of reading and writing the Crow language and incorporating the Crow
Dictionary into lesson plans.

CSI-221-1 Ammiláau – Crow eLearning Platform: Adapting and Designing the eLearning platform for optimal application in the classroom
Robert Rugh, Director of Crow Language Operations at The Language Conservancy, will
introduce the beta form of the interactive Ammiláau Crow Language eLearning platform for
adaptation into the K-12 classroom. The eLearning platform is intended to supplement classroom
instruction for Crow language teachers and students, or for independent study. The first year beta
version includes Levels 1 and 2 textbook vocabulary, conversational lessons, and interactive
exercises. There will be the opportunity for each participant to individually use, practice and
model both the learner interface and the teacher’s portal and to also provide valuable input and
feedback to adapt the platform for the Crow language classroom.
